Make love, not war…

Tuesday, March 18th, 2003

I really don’t know a lot about the situation about iraq, but slowly it is frightening me. I wasn’t really worried about it for a long time. Since I have so much time though, I’m watching the news and reading the newspaper a lot more. I thought about it, if I should post something about the war or if I should just think about it and not publish my thoughts. But I think it’s good to make a statement about it, so here it goes: NO BLOOD FOR OIL!!!. it’s so stupid. This world is crazy.
Anyways, besides getting tidal waves of information about the political situation I’m reading a very funny book. It’s called “Stargirl”. I bought it before I left Chicago, I guess it’s a book for teenagers, but who cares, it’s really funny and also gives you some good thoughts about individuallity.
So, the weather is still good, it’s so nice, the birds are singing and people are in a better mood when it’s so sunny…ahhhhh…….

some days feel like they just run away. Just like this one. I didn’t do a lot. First of all I slept way to long, than I read in my book a little. Now I’m sitting here, doing a little bit internet. Later I’m cooking dinner for my parents, me and cooking, two worlds coming together.
This weekend is my birthday, friday I’m doing a party, I like that, but it’s always lots of work. Buying food and alcohol and some decoration, and such…well…I guess I’m not a big fan of organizing my own partys. I like surprise partys, everything set….haha…

requiem for a dream

Sunday, March 16th, 2003

This weekend is so nice weather, it rules. Today I had brunch with my dance-group “rhythm company”. It was good, we were sitting there for like 4 hours, eating….talking….eating…..talking. What girls do. Than I went down to the river to meet up with some friends. There were just chillin and drinking bear, listen to music..playing some soccer. We do that a lot in the summer. Summer rules.

rain..rain, go away..

Wednesday, March 12th, 2003

Today I was walking around uni. It’s so big. Some things are there, the other ones are there. Well, I will get used to it. So today I became oficially a student. yieppie..I’m excited as hell. But the weather sucked today, so my pants got all wet from walking around. I really hate it, pants that are to long and it gets wet, yack. But whatever. Uni is really cool, besides studying you can do some real fun things, for free. Like gymnastics, juggling, soccer, ballet…and so on. That rules. ahh. I’m gettig pretty old soon. so old. My birthday this year is on a Saturday, which rules, because you get to party the weekend, and it’s your acctual birthday. Not like your birthday is on a Monday or so….well, well, well, pretty interesting. I go to bed now, sleep is nice. Hopefully it doesn’t rain tomorrow…don’t like it. Nothing looks pretty when it rains…..

Nena

Wednesday, March 12th, 2003

Today was fun. I bought a bunch of new Cd’s. Nena…first I was holding this new remake in my hands and I wanted to buy it, but than I saw the original Cd. And it was cheeper. And I bought “die Sterne” and a Cd from the Pixies….I like music, makes me happy.
My life is actually quiet boring right now..but I like it. I get to sleep in every day… It will change soon enough.
Tomorrow I’m gonna bake some magic cookies with some friends, uiuiuiui….
dubbie, dubbie, du……nothing to talk about, nothing really exciting…just breathing…and sleeping and hanging out..big slacker…….

Remember the time

Saturday, March 8th, 2003

Yesterday I saw the movie “Memento”. But I was so sleepy,so I kept falling asleep in the theater. Which was not a lot of fun, because now I missed some good parts. Mhhh, I just have to see it again some day. Now the american people who are reading this think:”what? Memento is in the theaters in Germany now, so late”. No, no, no. It’s not a theater like the typical ones. It’s called “one-dollar.house”. They play older movies, but just for a dollar, or here in Cologne for 1?.
Today I picked up some pictures from the photo shop. They are black and white pictures. I like them actually better than colored pictures. Some are from my departure from Chicago in February and some are from Karneval. Karneval was so much fun this year. Well, so today I mostly just edit the pictures in my computer. I can’t wait to bring them up on my website, but I’m still waiting for my internet access, sucks!
So tonight I’m gonna watch the TV event ever ;-). Germany gets his German Idol. It’s so stupid, but whatever. Even more because the best person in there got kicked out already. He is so insane.
Uhf, I’m not a big fan of those dump TV shows, but yea….
Bla, bla, bla…..
Good night.

Coffee

Thursday, March 6th, 2003

I just read my old entries and I realized that I haven’t stoped drinking coffee. I wanted to, and I haven’t. It’s basicly all I did today so far. And it’s frightening, because the day is pretty far already. I’m not dressed..I didn’t took a shower. I’m a big slacker! Whatever…The weather is so ugly. My plan yesterday for today was actually different. I wanted to sign papers at uni, but since this I can do the whole next week, I’m propably gonna wait till the last day. I was just a little bit to excited yesterday. Than, I have this really cool bike, it’s a Bonanza-bike. Me and my good friend Marcus both have one and since the weather yesterday was so warm and nice we wanted to take the bikes for a ride today, but today it’s raining, sucks. So, here I am. Nothing done. Get up Miriam!!!

Vanilla Sky

Wednesday, March 5th, 2003

I’m so excited. Today I got my admission for university in the mail. So, I’m accepted. Now I have to choose my subjects and stuff like that. It’s so exciting. Tomorrow I have to go to the office and sign papers and such. Now that I know that I can study in Cologne I realize that it was a big deal for me. This morning when I opened up the mail, my heard felt a little bit lighter…so looks like I’m getting pretty busy soon, I love it. I know I’m gonna hate it after a while as well, just like school, but who cares, right now I’m just happy to have something to do.
I might have a job as well, soon. My dancing teacher needs a babysitter a couple times a week. Next sunday I’m going over to her house to see the kids and we get to know each other. There three and one year old. I think I like beeing a babysitter. Even though I thought I need a break from kids after my year as an Au Pair. Apparently not, because I’m getting pretty excited about this job. I guess this was a lucky day for me?! This evening I watched this really good movie “Vanilla Sky”. Now I can say if I like it or not, because now I understood what it was about. Last year when I came to Chicago, it was the first movie I watched in english, and it was really hard for me to understand as a FOREIGN person. So anyhow, now I know, and I think it’s a good movie. Made me a little sad, too.

Raspberry Beret

Saturday, March 1st, 2003

It has been a crazy couple of days. Lots of “K?lsch” and not enough sleep. On “Weiberfastnacht” I went out with Lena and Matap to some fun places. Karneval rules. And the weather rules, too. It’s nice and warm and the sun is out. So we don’t have to freeze, while partying outside.
This evening I went to Jazz and now my body hurts. We did some sit ups and other exercise that my body doesn’t like, I’m getting old ;-)….But we have this new dance. It’s fun, we’re dancing on chairs, around chairs..with high shoes, that’s the tricky part. And it’s a good song, too, from Robbie Williams. Swing, baby!!!
Today I got a new cell phone, it’s exciting, even more, because I didn’t had a cell phone last year. Horrorble, how you can’t live without a phone. 10 Years ago nobody had a cell phone. I can’t imagine. But wathever. Now I’m excited to go to bed and have some more sleep than 3 or 4 hours. I’m gonna sleep forever….
Good night.
