Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

Schreibt mir doch…hab so wenig Freunde. Achherrje

Ok, back to work. Oh no. Dylan just came into my room and asked me to lay down with him? He can’t sleep. I can’t. He is crying…darn it. I wish I could go to sleep though…
When I was talking about my paper today, Maddie said “it’s ok if you fail one time. Doesn’t matter!” …thanks Maddie.

city lights

Wednesday, September 27th, 2006

Yesterday I was writing on my paper the whole day. I still have some pages to go today. But yesterday around five I almost went mad so I decided to get out. I was supposed to meet up with Harper around 8pm, so I still had some time. I went downtown, got off the train at Washington, got a coffee and sat on a bench at Millenium Park. It was nice. When I got there it was still light outside and when it got darker the light was pretty neat, so I took a bunch of pictures. I like this one, and this one.

After that I picked up Harper and we went for dinner at Penny’s noodles. After that we watched Jack Ass 2. This movie was disgusting, but funny. I laughed a lot. We ran into friends of Harper. They said my English is really good. I don’t think so at all. I get stuck on words so much this time…
After that we went to the Funky Buddha lounge for a minute, but I was really tired, so I went home. I took the train and I was kind of scared. But I got home save.

bye.

Klebebindung

Tuesday, September 26th, 2006

I’m grounded today with my paper. It is supposed to be done on thursday, and I wanna finish it today. My host mom is yelling at me for not doing it. Just like everybody else back home. I just don’t like papers. They are not my favorite.

The picture of me is up. But I’m just second best :-( , so you have to click on the third picture.

Nine more pages. Bye.

sleepy weekend

Monday, September 25th, 2006

I slept about 20 hours this past weekend.

On saturday I went to Navy Pier with Dylan. We went on the Ferris Wheel, and I think, I’m afraid of hights. I never recognized this before. I thought “Why didn’t we do miniature golf instead?”. I was glad, when we were on the ground again. We then had lunch at Mc’Donalds and went to the Childrens Museum. This whole place, Navy Pier is really busy and loud. Lots of people and lots of shops, where the kids go crazy about toys.
Then saturday night I went out with Ark and some of his friends again, and I had way too many gin tonic and shots in between. So I basically slept the whole sunday through.

Friday I got to be a model for one of the threadless shirts. And I got to take a bunch of shirts home. Yipiie!

OH, the concert. I almost forgot to mention it. The concert was awesome. The Vic theatre was really small. So you could see really good. And she played for almost two hours. I didn’t bring my camera, I’m still mad that I forgot. The pictures would have turned out great since we were like 5m away from the stage. Oh well.

Tetra Pak

Tuesday, September 19th, 2006

Winter is here. I’m freezing my butt off.
Today I went to the Museum of Contemporary Art. They have an exhibition right now called “Massive Change“. One of the things presented in this exhibition is the Tetra Pak. Not a new inovative thing in Europe…kind of funny. Otherwise it was really interesting. What is really nice about Chicago museums is, that they have one day during the week where you can get in for free .
Very good for my budget ;-)

Ok, I wrote like six or seven postcards today and if you get them let me know, because I don’t know if I put enough stamps on them.

celtic fest and fancy bars

Monday, September 18th, 2006

Saturday was beautiful. I woke up at six to take Bridgette to her skating class. I dropped her off their and drove to Starbucks to get COFFEE. After that the world looked much nicer, and the sun was coming out and you could tell that it is going to be a beautiful day! So after her class was done we drove back home and rested a little while playing with Mr. Peabody and Sammy (the cats).
In the afternoon I went downtown with Maddie. It was a Maddie&Mimi day. First we went to Old Navy. I got Maddie a shirt and myself a vest and some of those comfi pants that everybody is wearing around here. Then we wanted to go to the Celtic Fest, but first we stopped at Millenium Park to take pictures of this amazing thing. After that we were kind of exhausted from all the walking, so we sat down and ate the Brownie we brought along for a snack. Refreshed from the Brownie we walked over to Grant Park and walked around, saw Irish dancers, music and had corn on the cob. Maddie wanted to get me something as well, so she bought little shiny stones with celtic signs on them for me and herself. I will keep it as a lucky charm.
After I dropped Maddie off at home I got ready to go out with Harper. We first went to have dinner at Lulas and then went to some backyard party to meet John whom I haven’t seen in three years. He was like “Miriam! You’re back!!” Funny. Then we met Tak (?) and drove with him to Y Bar. This bar was insane: People dressed up really fancy, throwing around with money, Wodka red bull for insane 14 $ and a girl in the bathroom handing you a towel after you washed your hands. After that we went to Crobar and after that to a place (I forgot the name) and stayed there till four. Then Tak gave me a ride home, which was nice, so I didn’t have to spend money on a cab. Here are some pics, it was late and I had way to much to drink.
So sunday was kind of a lazy day. Maddie wanted to practice cart wheels with me, but being upside down was not a good idea.

Today I found 80$ in my pant’s pockets from saturday and at first I couldn’t remember that I withdraweled money saturday night. It was scary for a sec, I was like “where is that money from, what did I do?” Since I got it at some random ATM machine I probably spend 10$ on extra fee. Darn it.

Tomorrow I’m going to the Museum of Contemparary Art. And I will probably be writing a bunch of postcards. I haven’t found any postcards that are nice. I don’t like those cards where it says CHICAGO in big rainbow colored letters.

I love the show “Curb your Enthusiasm“. Ellen just gave me the complete first season on DVD. I wanna watch it, but I still have to work on my paper. I could punch myself in the face for not working on it.

see ya

gets nicer and nicer…and I don’t wanna leave

Friday, September 15th, 2006

Weekend is coming up. Tonight I will be babysitting the kids, just like the old days. Then tomorrow I’m going out with Harper and some of his friends. I also want to go to the Celtic Fest at Grant Park tomorrow. I like Celtic music and I like the Irish dance.

Today I went to the lake. the weather was so nice. I wrote some postcards, read my book and listened to music. I like the Kooks right now. I like the song “Naive” and “Sofa Song”.

Yesterday I went downtown. Walked around Michigan Ave., before that I went to the box office at the Vic theatre to get tickets for a concert. I’m excited to go.

rain

Wednesday, September 13th, 2006

I guess this rain is just following me wherever I go. I’m in Chicago now and I haven’t been doing a lot since I’m here. On sunday I watched Bridgette playing soccer and on Monday I watched Maddie and Bridgette ice skating. It’s amazing to see how good they are now. When I saw them the last time three years ago they were just starting with soccer and ice skating. This morning they had skating class at 6.30 in the morning, and since it was so early and I was still jet laged I drove them to the skating ring. My first opportunitiy to use the car ;-)

I can’t really remember being jet laged. This time it’s really bad. I wake up at 5 in the morning and usually around 6 in the evening I’m ready to go to bed.

I haven’t been downtown yet because of the weather. And I haven’t been to Belmont. Hopefully the sun will come out soon. On Monday I met Harper for dinner. I met him at his work and he showed me around there. They make really cool t-shirts. We drove to Bucktown and had dinner at some noodle place. I was so tired, so I wasn’t as talkative as usual. Afterwards I got to use the “L” for the first time in three years. It’s all very hard to describe. It all feels familiar and strange at the same time, being in Chicago again.

This morning I went to Target with Ellen. I bought a nice shirt and shoes with stars on them. They are sort of like fake Vans. I like this store. You just spend too much money…

“Rain, rain go away. Come again some other day.”
